- Competition: World Cup 2026 qualifying
- Date: 07/09/2025
- KO: 17:00 UK / 18:00 CEST
- Venue: Steponas Darius and Stasys Girenas
World Cup qualifying action continues on Sunday afternoon as Lithuania takes on Netherlands at the Steponas Darius and Stasys Girenas Stadium in Vilnius.
Both teams come into this fixture after failing to win their respective home fixtures on Thursday. The Dutch return to action after a frustrating draw against Poland while Lithuania were held to a share of the spoils in their home fixture against Malta.
Now set for their first-ever meeting, the Dutch arrive in Vilnius as short-priced favourites to maintain their advantage at the top of Group G.
Lithuania team overview
Lithuania come into Sunday´s World Cup qualifier after rescuing a 1:1 draw against Malta on Thursday. In a match where both sides were reduced to ten men, Gvidas Gineitis´s penalty, six minutes into stoppage time, secured a point for Edgaras Jankauskas`s side.
Still in search of their first win in Group G, Lithuania have picked up three draws from four games played, including a 2:2 draw against Finland earlier this year.
However, a 5:0 defeat in a friendly fixture against Denmark illustrates the difficulty the Lithuanians have when stepping up to face top-tier opposition.
Head coach Jankauskas will be forced into at least one change to his selection this week. Edgaras Utkus misses out after his red card against Malta on Thursday.

Netherlands team overview
Netherlands make the trip to Vilnius looking to bounce back to winning form after a frustrating 1:1 draw against Poland on Thursday. Both of the right-backs on show got themselves on the scoresheet with Denzel Dumfries first-half strike cancelled out by Matty Cash´s late equaliser for the Poles.
Despite that setback, the Dutch remain top of Group G with seven points collected from three games played. Ronald Koeman´s side claimed a 2:0 win in Finland and a thumping 8:0 win against Malta before their stalemate in Rotterdam earlier this week.
Ronald Koeman has a 25-man squad to choose from for Sunday's FIFA World Cup qualifier. The visitors are likely to make some changes after their disappointing draw against Poland. Justin Kluivert and Wout Weghorst are among those in contention for recalls to the first XI.
Jeremie Frimpong misses out with a hamstring issue.

Prediction
Netherlands should ease to a comfortable victory in Vilnius. An away with a clean sheet is my best bet this weekend.
Three Reasons Why We Expect BTTS - No
- Lithuania have seen BTTS - No in 4 of their last 6 matches
- Netherlands kept a clean sheet in 2 of their last 3 matches
- Netherlands kept a clean sheet in 5 of their last 6 matches (qualifiers)
Main prediction Lithuania - Netherlands
Both Teams to Score - NO
