A first-ever competitive meeting between Inter and Club Brugge takes place in Milan on Tuesday.

The Nerazzurri warmed up with a commanding Serie A victory against Parma, while Club Brugge extended their excellent domestic form with an emphatic win at La Louviere.

Both teams have been in great form, but Inter's UCL pedigree makes the Italian champions strong favourites to claim the points at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Inter Milan

Inter team overview

Inter return to Champions League action after securing a comfortable 3:0 Serie A victory against Parma at San Siro on Saturday.

Petar Sucic opened the scoring before Hakan Calhanoglu converted a penalty to double the Inter advantage. Marcus Thuram added a third as Cristian Chivu's side eased to a straightforward home win.

The in-form Nerazzurri remain unbeaten in six league matches this season, winning five and drawing once. Inter scored 18 goals during that sequence, with five games finishing with at least three goals.

Inter have been particularly impressive at San Siro, winning all four home league fixtures while scoring 15 goals.

Chivu's men now look to secure their first Champions League points after suffering a narrow 2:1 defeat against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. Despite dominating large portions of that contest, the Serie A champions left Madrid empty-handed.

Head coach Chivu has a strong squad available with just two players likely to miss out. Curtis Jones and John Stones are expected to remain unavailable through injury.

Lautaro Martinez, Nicolo Barella and Federico Dimarco are among those expected to earn recalls to the first XI this week.

Djed Spence is available after making his debut as a second-half substitute in Sunday’s easy win against Parma.

Club Brugge

Club Brugge team overview

Club Brugge makes the trip to Milan after claiming an impressive 4:1 victory against La Louviere on Saturday.

Hugo Vetlesen, Jan Virgili and Nicolo Tresoldi put the visitors in control before Felix Lemarechal completed the scoring in stoppage time.

The Belgian side have won three successive league matches, scoring ten goals in the process.

That impressive run followed a disappointing 3:2 home defeat against Aston Villa in their Champions League opener.

Club Brugge have collected six victories from seven league fixtures this season, with an average of 2.33 goals per game scored this season.

A poor away UCL record in the last two seasons is a source of concern, though. Brugge lost five and won only one of their last seven away Champions League, league phase fixtures.

Goals look likely if Brugge’s recent record in this competition is anything to go by. Each of their last 14 Champions League fixtures since the start of last season finished with over 2.5 goals.

Head coach Ivan Leko has just one injury issue to deal with. Joel Ordonez remains doubtful with a foot injury.

Prediction

Inter have made an excellent start to their domestic campaign and with a 100% home record, should be confident against their Belgian visitors.

Club Brugge are capable of contributing to an entertaining contest, but a poor away record in this competition points to a likely high-scoring road defeat.

Inter to win and over 2.5 goals is my best bet on Tuesday.

Three Reasons Why We Expect Inter to Win and Over 2.5 Goals

  1. Inter won 5 of their last 6 matches
  2. Inter have seen over 2.5 goals in 6 of their last 7 matches
  3. Club Brugge lost 5 of their last 7 away matches (UCL)
