Fiorentina vs Atalanta prediction 29.10.2026 | Serie A

Fiorentina return to the Stadio Artemio Franchi following a heartbreaking 2:1 defeat against Inter on Sunday. Alex Jimenez put the visitors ahead in the 65th minute, and Paolo Vanoli's side looked set to claim a famous victory at San Siro. 

However, Marcus Thuram equalised in stoppage time before Piotr Zielinski converted a penalty in the 98th minute to complete a dramatic turnaround.

Despite coming close to a major upset, Fiorentina were second best for much of the contest. Inter registered 33 attempts on goal compared to the visitors' seven, while the Viola managed just two shots on target.

Sunday's defeat was Fiorentina's third successive league loss, following setbacks against Genoa and Como. 

The Viola have endured a miserable start to the season, collecting only four points from eight matches. They sit 18th in Serie A, with one win, one draw and six defeats.

Defensive issues have been the biggest concern, with Fiorentina conceding 19 goals in eight fixtures. Vanoli's side have also struggled at the Artemio Franchi, failing to win any of their four home league matches this season.

Both teams scored in six of Fiorentina’s last eight games, while four of their last five games finished with at least three goals scored. 

Vanoli has several injury concerns ahead of Thursday's encounter. Fabiano Parisi, Arthur Atta and Luca Ranieri are expected to remain sidelined.

Atalanta make the trip to Florence following an extraordinary 4:4 draw against Frosinone on Sunday. Maurizio Sarri's side twice came from behind in the opening stages before establishing a 3:2 half-time advantage.

Nikola Krstovic scored twice, while Ederson converted a penalty to put Atalanta ahead at the interval. After Frosinone equalised early in the second half, Eljif Elmas restored the hosts' advantage in the 50th minute before Aleksa Terzic scored an 82nd-minute equaliser.

Sunday's remarkable draw continued an inconsistent run of results for Sarri's side, who have won just one of their previous six Serie A matches. 

A poor run of form across all competitions has seen the Bergamo-based side lose five and win just two of their last eight games.

In Serie A, Atalanta sit 11th in the division with only ten points collected from eight games.

Like Fiorentina, a lack of defensive stability has been a big issue for La Dea. Atalanta conceded 17 goals in their last eight fixtures. 

Head coach Sarri is unable to call on several first-team players. Giorgio Scalvini, Odilon Kossounou, Sead Kolasinac and Isak Hien are likely to miss out this week. 

Raoul Bellanova was withdrawn during the first half against Frosinone and will require assessment before Thursday's contest.
