Falkirk head into Wednesday’s home fixture after falling to a 2:1 defeat against champions Celtic at Parkhead on Saturday.

A first-half brace from Camilo Duran left John McGlynn’s men with a mountain to climb before Colby Donovan’s own-goal reduced the arrears. Despite the narrow scoreline, Falkirk were largely second best at Parkhead.

Falkirk registered only five efforts on goal in a largely one-sided affair in Glasgow.

Three games into the season, the Bairns remain winless in the Premiership. The hosts kicked-off the campaign with a 2:0 home loss against St Mirren before a goalless draw at Motherwell.

Following the departure of several key attackers, a lack of quality in the final third has been a big issue for the home side. Donovan’s own goal was Falkirk’s first of the league campaign, with their lack of cutting edge undermining otherwise competitive performances.

McGlynn has several players missing for Wednesday’s Premiership fixture. Finn Yeats, Joe Gardner, Craig Sibbald, Tom Lang, Ethan Laidlaw, Keelan Adams and Aidan Nesbitt are all expected to remain unavailable.

Rangers make the short trip to Falkirk after securing a much-needed 1:0 victory against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday.

Lawrence Shankland’s 69th-minute penalty settled the contest as McInnes’s side collected their first Premiership win of the campaign.

The Dons saw a late equaliser ruled out following a VAR review as the Gers secured three valuable points at Pittodrie. 

Sunday’s result followed last Thursday’s embarrassing Conference League elimination against Jablonec. Rangers missed out on European league-phase football for the first time since 2017.

McInnes’s men have now won three of their last four competitive fixtures, but their performances in the final third remain unconvincing.

Rangers have scored no more than one goal in seven of their eight matches this season. Their last eight fixtures have seen an average of only 1.75 goals per game.

McInnes could retain the same starting lineup that secured Sunday’s victory. South Korean forward Minsu Kim should keep his place after an encouraging debut against the Dons.

Captain Shankland is expected to lead the attack after scoring the winner at Pittodrie.

Rangers remain unable to call on long-term absentee Youssef Chermiti.
