Last season was the best Eintracht Frankfurt season in the 21st century, as they ended third on the table and secured one of the rare appearances in the Champions League. Eintracht Frankfurt's 2025/26 season well illustrates how hard it is to participate in a few competitions simultaneously. They are seventh on the Bundesliga table, while Dino Toppmoller's team won three points in two Champions League rounds. Eintracht Frankfurt won only one of the last five matches. In the previous game, they played 2-2 on the road against Freiburg. The guests were close to victory, but the home side scored late in the second half and left Eintracht Frankfurt disappointed.

Arne Slot was obviously disappointed after another defeat. He shortly commented, "If you lose four times in a row, you need to be concerned."

Liverpool have some problems with injuries. Alisson, Luke Chambers, Giovanni Leoni, and Callum Scanlon are injured and will not play on Wednesday night, while Wataru Endo is questionable.
