In the overall standings, Valencia holds the edge in head-to-heads with 22 wins out of 44 encounters. However, Deportivo Alaves have shown resilience against Los Ches and are currently enjoying a five-match unbeaten run, four of which they have claimed in their favor.
Deportivo Alaves team overview
Despite barely managing to preserve their top-flight status last season, escaping relegation by just two points, the Babazorros can be fairly pleased with the calm and confident way they have started the new 2025–26 La Liga campaign.
Alaves entered the two-week international break in high spirits after delighting their fans with a commanding 3-1 win over Elche, a result that took them to 11 points for the season — their highest tally at this stage of a La Liga campaign since 2018–19.
As seven of their eleven points have come at Mendizorroza, the Basque club will hope that the backing of their fans can once again make the difference as they look to close the two-point gap to the European zone.
The 28-year-old centre forward Toni Martinez is expected to be available for coach Eduardo Coudet after overcoming his back issues, while Facundo Garces faces a one-year FIFA suspension.

Valencia team overview
Valencia, by contrast, have been drifting around mid-table for several years now, a team seemingly stripped of the cutting edge that once defined them, and the current campaign threatens to bring more of the same uninspiring results.
The fallen six-time Spanish champions were able to eke out a meager eight points from their first eight top-flight challenges, losing half of those in the process, which puts them dangerously close to the drop zone, holding only a two-point cushion over Real Oviedo, the first team below the line.
The desire to move away from the relegation zone is clear, but Los Ches’ away performances offer little hope, as they have taken just one point from their first four LaLiga road games, conceding a worrying 11 goals in the process, which practically labels them as one of the league’s weakest travelers.
42-year-old head coach Carlos Corberan will definitely be without the services of Mouctar Diakhaby, Dimitri Foulquier, Filip Ugrinic, and left winger Largie Ramazani, as all four are sidelined with various injuries.

Prediction
It’s certainly a tough match to call, as both teams will be thinking about their chances of a positive result, but it seems that BTTS could turn out to be a smart choice. We say this because both teams are struggling with a lack of solidity at the back, with Alaves having kept only one clean sheet since the start of the season, while Valencia have put together an unfavorable three-game run of conceding two or more goals.
Four Reasons we expect BTTS
- Alaves have failed to keep a clean sheet in their opening four home matches.
- Three of Alaves’ last four LaLiga matches have ended in BTTS.
- Valencia have conceded at least once in their last 18 consecutive LaLiga visits.
- Valencia’s last three league matches have all ended in BTTS.
