Only a few years ago, Denmark looked like one of the most stable European teams. They played in the EURO semifinals and participated regularly at major events. However, Denmark disappointed in World Cup qualifying and is now trying to get back on track. Brian Riemer's team didn't play well recently, winning only once in the last five matches. A few days ago, Denmark played 0-0 in a friendly against DR Congo. The teams were pretty even, and a draw was probably the most realistic outcome. 

After a draw in the most recent outing, Denmark's head coach, Brian Riemer, was satisfied with the first half and the chances they created in that period. He also added that the second 45 minutes were too messy and that might be due to the many substitutions they made. 

Denmark failed to beat DR Congo, which will add even more pressure on Brian Riemer. The Danes have struggled for consistency over the past year, and some pundits believe the head coach could lose his job after the match against Ukraine. However, the football association recently expressed confidence in Riemer and extended his contract until 2028. 

Although Ukraine are regular at the EUROs, they haven't played at the World Cup since 2006. Ukraine were close this time, but they lost in the playoffs and now turn their attention to other competitions. However, Ukraine played well recently with three wins in the last four matches. In the most recent outing, they won 2-0 in Wroclaw against Poland. The hosts had significantly more shots on the goal, but the guests' excellent efficiency was enough for a victory.

The game against Poland was a debut for the head coach Andrea Maldera.
