Bayern Munich are by far the best team in the Bundesliga, and it would be surprising if any team could challenge them. Vincent Kompany's team won the last two domestic league titles and wants to continue its dominance. Also, Bayern lost in the Champions League semifinals in the previous campaign, and returning to the throne at the continental level remains one of the most important goals for the upcoming year. 

Bayern Munich were impressive in the preseason, winning five consecutive matches. Last week, they opened the season with a 2-1 victory over Borussia in the Super Cup. Bayern finished the game with 61% ball possession and 13 shots on goal, more than the opponent, and deservedly lifted another trophy. 

Bayern Munich are trying to improve the team in the summer transfer window. According to reports, they could sign Jules Kounde from Barcelona in the coming days. Also, Bayern Munich are interested in Dario Osorio (from Midtjylland) and Gilberto Mora (Tijuana). 

Bayern Munich have problems with missing players. Jamal Musiala, Lennart Karl, Serge Gnabry, Tarek Buchmann, and Bryan Zaragoza are out for the upcoming tie against Stuttgart. 

Last season, Stuttgart returned among the top four Bundesliga teams. They could hardly challenge Bayern for the crown, but have the goal of remaining among the best domestic teams. Also, Stuttgart expects to have a larger role in the Champions League than two years ago, when they last participated and finished with only ten points in eight matches. 

After a solid preseason and only one defeat in six matches, Stuttgart opened their 2026/27 campaign last week with a 4-0 victory on the road in the cup against Hansa Rostock. The guests dominated throughout the game, and their victory was never in question. 

Stuttgart are active in the transfer window, too. The team could lose talented Finn Jeltsch in the coming days, as a few clubs, including Manchester United, are interested in the defender. On the other hand, Stuttgart are interested in Southampton's midfielder Caspar Jander. 

Leo Sauer and Denni Seimen are injured and will not travel to Munich. Also, Chris Fuhrich and Nikolas Nartey are questionable, and their statuses will get clearer closer to the kickoff.
