Bayern Munich face Auckland City in what looks like a classic David vs Goliath clash on day two of the FIFA Club World Cup in Cincinnati. Bundesliga champions Bayern will be expected to begin their FIFA Club World Cup adventure with a commanding win against the tournament outsiders.
A fine domestic campaign saw the Bavarians reclaim their Bundesliga title, eventually finishing 13 points clear of runners-up Leverkusen. An impressive season saw Vincent Kompany's side score 99 goals in just 34 Bundesligsa fixtures - that's an average of just under three goals per game.
Now facing an Auckland City FC side who have lost six of their last seven FIFA World Club Cup games, Bayern should have little trouble in putting their New Zealand opponents to the sword.
Kompany's men bagged three goals or more in four of their last five games of the domestic season, including four goals against both Heidenheim and Hoffenheim. Anything fewer than four goals scored again this weekend would come as something of a surprise.
Auckland shipped three goals or more in each of their last three FIA World Club Cup contests, all against opponents of far less class than the Germans.
