Auxerre vs Metz prediction 07.12.2025 | Ligue 1

After a surprisingly solid previous season, it seems that Auxerre could have big problems with relegation in the current campaign. They are at the bottom of the Ligue 1 standings with only nine points after 14 rounds. Auxerre have been terrible over the last two months, with three draws and six losses in their previous nine matches. In the most recent outing, they played 1-1 on the road against Paris FC. That performance was one of the best for Auxerre in the last two months and could provide a major boost of confidence ahead of Sunday. 

Christophe Pélissier has guided Auxerre impressively over the past few seasons, but his position is now under scrutiny as the team hasn't won a match since September 21. Auxerre's biggest issue is their lack of firepower. They are the lowest-scoring team in Ligue 1, with just eight goals in 14 games, and Pélissier must quickly find a solution to revive a malfunctioning attack if he wants to ease the pressure and stabilize his future at the club.

Auxerre have some problems with missing players. Nathan Buayi-Kiala, Elisha Owusu, Lasso Coulibaly, Telli Siwe, and Marvin Senaya are injured and will not play on Sunday against Metz. 

Metz returned to Ligue 1 this season, but will have big problems remaining in the competition. They are currently three points behind safety. Metz, a few weeks ago, had a streak of three victories in a row. However, that was followed with two defeats. In the previous game, Stephane Le Mignan's team lost 1-0 at home against Rennes. The teams were pretty even, but the guests' better efficiency was enough for all three points.

Metz's head coach, Stephane Le Mignan, was frustrated after the defeat against Rennes. He said, "Yes, we failed to capitalize on our dominance, which grew quite strong as the match progressed. We had a few chances but we couldn't score that goal."

Cheikh Sabaly suffered an ankle injury in the previous Ligue 1 round and it is unlikely that he will play in Auxerre. Pape Sy, Urie-Michel Mboula, Joseph Mangondo, and Habibou Diallo will skip the upcoming trip to Stade de l'Abbe-Deschamps as well.
