Nantes travel to Angers looking for a way of keeping their survival hopes alive, but the table doesn’t make things look easy. There’s an eight-point gap between the clubs with Les Canaris still in 17th, and Angers sitting safely midtable. Bizarrely, the bookies remain pretty clueless as to who should go off favourite – not that it tells us all we need to know about both sides’ real levels of performance. In this look-ahead, you’ll see some of each team’s shape, how fit the teams are and a couple of angles if you’re thinking of taking a bet.

Coupe de France
These two have crossed paths nine times since 2020, eight of those in Ligue 1 and one in the cup. Nantes edged that period overall with three wins and five draws. Angers only claimed one win, although it was the most recent clash back in May 2025, which naturally gives their fans something to cling to. Goals have been fairly sparse too, with an average of just 2.1 per match.
Angers team overview
Angers started their season in a way that probably surprised their own supporters, scraping a 1–0 victory over Paris FC despite going down to ten men. It was a welcome boost after surviving relegation by the skin of their teeth last spring.
Things dipped straight after, though, with a frustrating seven-game drought before they steadied themselves and beat Lorient at home.
Alexandre Dujeux’s team look more settled now, winning three of their last four, and you can sense some quiet optimism around the club ahead of Nantes’ visit.
Sidiki Cherif, who leads Les Scoïstes with three goals, should start through the middle again, while Prosper Peter is expected to remain the impact option from the bench.
Emmanuel Biumla is dealing with stomach issues, although aside from that Dujeux has no suspended players to worry about.

Nantes team overview
For Nantes, the season opened with more of a thud. Les Canaris lost their first two outings without scoring and after eight matches had managed only one win, which already put them on the back foot.
Luís Castro’s group still haven’t found much momentum, arriving here with one victory in their last five league games. The one thing the away supporters might cling to is that the team have been much harder to beat on the road lately, losing just once in five away trips.
Junior Mwanga is back after serving his one match ban but a yellow card for either Chidozie Awaziem or Tylel Tati against Angers will result in a one match ban.
Francis Coquelin remains sidelined with a hamstring problem and won’t make the trip, and midfielder Louis Leroux is also out after missing five straight matches with a leg injury.

Prediction
A 1–1 draw feels like the kind of game this could turn into. Angers have lost only two of their last eight, and matches at Stade Raymond Kopa usually stay contained, almost as if the place naturally slows things down. Six of their last seven at home ended under the 2.5 mark. Nantes, for all their ups and downs, have lost just once in their last five away outings. With both sides struggle to finish chances yet remaining competitive, the scoreline is likely to settle somewhere in the middle.
Three reasons we expect under 2.5 goals in this game
- Only one of Angers’ seven home matches this season has climbed above two goals.
- Three of Nantes’ last five league games ended below the 2.5 line.
- The last five league meetings between Angers and Nantes have all produced under three goals.
Main prediction Angers - Nantes
Under 2.5 goals
