Al Sadd are the most successful Qatari team with 18 national league titles and two AFC Champions League trophies. However, they are not even near the level of their reputation as they are only a mid-table team in the domestic championship, while in the continental competition, Al Sadd collected only two points in the opening three rounds. 

Al Sadd were terrible recently with five defeats in a row in the last six matches. The negative run ended in the most recent outing, when the team from Doha won 5-1 at home against Al Rayyan. A victory like that should provide a major confidence boost ahead of the AFC Champions League clash against Al Ahli. 

Al Sadd sacked the head coach, Felix Sanchez, about two weeks ago after a series of terrible results. At his place came caretaker manager Sergio Alegre, but he didn't change too much as the team lost four of five games since then. We should expect Al Sadd to come out soon with a permanent solution. 

Al Ahli are one of the biggest Saudi Arabian teams. Last season, they became the first-time AFC Champions League champions, and Matthias Jaissle's team is hoping to repeat the success in the current campaign, too. Al Ahli is losing its pace with Al Nassr in the domestic league, but Jaissle's team is doing much better in the continental competition, where they are only two points behind the group leader, Al Hilal. 

Al Ahli are in very good form as they have not been beaten in the last seven matches. In the previous game, Al Ahli played 1-1 at home against Al Riyadh. The home side ended with an xG of 2.54, while the guests had only 1.04, but Al Ahli's offense failed them that time.
