AC Milan vs Napoli prediction 28.09.2025 | Serie A

Historically, AC Milan are one of the most successful Italian teams, but they have won only three Serie A trophies in the 21st century. After ending eighth in the standings last season, the team from San Siro is determined to return to the right track. Their campaign began shakily with a surprise defeat to Catanzaro, but they quickly bounced back with four straight wins across all competitions. On Wednesday, AC Milan won 3-0 at home in the Cup against Lecce. The guests' Jamil Siebert got a red card early in the game, so the hosts didn't have difficulty progressing to the next phase. 

AC Milan's head coach, Massimiliano Allegri, slightly rotated the starting lineup in the cup tie, so Koni De Winter, Samuele Ricci, Davide Bartesaghi, and Christopher Nkunku got an opportunity to start. We should expect Allegri to revert to the usual starting eleven on Sunday night against Napoli. 

AC Milan have almost a full squad for the upcoming clash, as Ardon Jashari will be the only one unavailable. 

The past few years have been among the most successful in Napoli's history, with the club capturing two league titles in the last three seasons. The opening four rounds of the 2025/26 campaign are equally encouraging, as Napoli won all of them and are at the top of the standings with a maximum of 12 points. In the previous game, Napoli won 3-2 at home against Pisa. The visitors delivered an excellent performance, but Antonio Conte's side ultimately prevailed, securing another valuable win.

Napoli's center-back Alessandro Buongiorno suffered an adductor injury against Pisa and will not be available for about a month. Buongiorno replaced Amir Rrahmani after the Kosovo international sustained an injury in the opening Serie A round. Rrahmani was among the substitutes in the game against Pisa, but now we should expect him to return to the starting lineup instead of Buongiorno. Also, Napoli will be without Romelu Lukaku and Nikita Contini on Sunday at San Siro.
