Aarhus vs Sabah prediction 05.08.2026 | Champions League

For too long, Aarhus didn't have an important role in Danish football. After their first domestic league title in 40 years, Jakob Poulsen's team secured the first group phase of any UEFA competition, but they will not stop and will try to qualify for the Champions League. In the previous round, they lost 4-1 in the first leg against Lech Poznan, but shocked the opponents in the rematch and went through after the penalty shootout. Last weekend, Aarhus had problems in the Danish Superliga, too, playing only 2-2 on the road against Lyngby. The guests partly rotated the squad after an exhausting tie in Poznan, so it is not surprising that the hosts ended with 62% ball possession and 13 shots more, but Poulsen's team was fortunate to pick up one point. 

Aarhus have problems in defense at the start of the season, and the board decided to add another player, Colin Rosler, who came from Malmo FF. The center-back appeared in 10 Allsvenskan rounds in 2026 and could debut for his new team already on Wednesday against Sabah. 

Aarhus have big problems with missing players. They will be without Jacob Andersen, Richmond Gyamfi, Gift Links, Tobias Molgaard, Nicolai Poulsen, Markus Solbakken, and Kevin Yakob in the upcoming game. 

Last season, Sabah secured their first league title in the Azerbaijani league. They continued in good form this summer. Sabah knocked out TNS and KuPS in the Champions League qualifications and already secured a historic appearance in any international competition. Sabah's domestic league still hasn't started, so their previous match was last Tuesday when they won 2-0 in Kuopio against KuPS. Valdas Dambrauskas' team didn't dominate, but their excellent defense and solid offense continued to carry them through the qualifiers. 

Sabah are active on the market, too. Since their previous match, they signed winger Christian Nwachukwu from Sheffield United. The youngster didn't have the opportunity to play in England, but could become a solid option for Sabah. 

Sabah have almost a full squad available for the trip to Denmark. Khayal Aliyev, with a tendon rupture, should be the only one out on Wednesday evening.
