Scotland vs Argentina prediction: what to bet on in the match on November 16th

By Deniss Novickis | Published: November 15, 2025

The Autumn Nations Series is in full swing, and on Sunday, Scotland will face Argentina at Murrayfield Stadium. The teams played 22 matches against each other, but haven't met since July 2022. The Scots had mixed results this year, but they are the favourites ahead of the test in Edinburgh.

MightyTips experts analyse the head-to-head record, recent form of both teams, and the latest squad updates before sharing their prediction for the outcome and offering an additional betting tip for the test scheduled on November 16.

Pic about Scotland vs Argentina prediction

H2H stats

The teams have met 22 times, and each side prevailed on 11 occasions. However, Scotland have a clear advantage in the last 10 matches with seven victories and three defeats. The line for this game is 49.5 points. In the last 10 head-to-head matches, the teams combined scored less than that six times, while four more tests finished with a higher total, including the previous two.

Scotland Form

Scotland finished fourth in the 2025 Six Nations Championship, as they defeated Italy and Wales, but lost to France, England, and Ireland. They have played five matches since, earning three wins and losing to Fiji and New Zealand. The test against the All Blacks took place at Murrayfield Stadium last weekend, and Scotland suffered a 25-17 defeat. They failed miserably in the first half, losing by 17 points, but managed to bring the intrigue back after the break.

Scotland Injuries & Team News

Arron Reed is sidelined after suffering a quadriceps injury, and Rory Sutherland will also miss this weekend's match as he recovers from a concussion. Murphy Walker won't help the national team either after featuring in the series opener against the USA.

On the bright side, Will Hurd recovered from a shoulder injury and is ready to play, and Jamie Bhatti is good to go, too. Finally, fly-half Finn Russell is questionable due to knee and ankle problems, but the 33-year-old was training with the team and is expected to take the pitch on Sunday.

Argentina Form

The Pumas have played 11 matches in 2025, and all of them took place in the second half of the year. Argentina won five and lost six tests, and the victories against New Zealand and Australia are among the noticeable results. In their last game on November 9 in Cardiff, they demolished Wales with a 52-28 score.

Argentina Injuries & Team News

Coach Felipe Contepomi has made five changes to the starting XV, compared to the test in Wales a week ago. Santiago Carreras drops to the bench, and Juan Cruz Mallia steps in at fullback. He is one of two Argentine players poised to earn their 50th caps this weekend, the other being openside flanker Juan Martín González.

Rodrigo Isgro replaces Bautista Delguy on the right wing, while Matías Moroni takes over from Justo Piccardo at outside centre. Among the forwards, Pedro Rubiolo starts at lock, taking the spot of Marcos Kremer. Loose forward Santiago Grondona, who came off the bench in Cardiff, will start this time. Veteran hooker Julián Montoya remains the team's captain.

Scotland vs Argentina key betting facts

  • Scotland won seven out of the last 10 head-to-head encounters.
  • Scotland have been victorious in the previous four tests against Argentina at Murrayfield Stadium.
  • In the last eight matches featuring Argentina, there were at least 52 points scored combined.
  • Argentina are sixth in the men's world rugby rankings, two spots above Scotland.

Scotland vs Argentina Predictions

This is Argentina's 12th test in six months, and they will have an advantage in teamwork and mutual understanding. However, Scotland looks a bit stronger on paper, and the second half of their clash versus New Zealand definitely brought optimism back to the local fans. Gregor Townsend's side is eager to make amends for that loss, while Argentina is all about scoring and making mistakes in defence. That's why betting over the total of 49.5 points looks very promising.

We can't underestimate the home-field advantage. Scotland have a good backline, led by Finn Russell, and should create enough attacking opportunities, especially if the forwards secure dominance in the set piece. We expect Argentina to fight hard defensively and stay competitive early on. Yet Scotland's cohesion and depth should prevail in the second half, and they will win by two points or more.

I’ve been a keen sports fan since childhood, and the World Cup 1994 in the United States is probably the first big competition I remember in detail. Who can forget a five-goal match by Oleg Salenko that didn't mean a thing?! I’ve worked in UEFA for 15 years, so I no longer watch football nowadays. My favourite sports are American football, baseball, darts, and snooker, and I know everything about the UFC.
