Next Liverpool Manager odds: who'll be The Reds coach on 01.01.2026

By Klimentijs Konevs | Published: November 28, 2025

Things are not looking good for Arne Slot and his team. The Reds, who won the Premier League last season, suffered 9 losses in the last 12 games, including a brutal 4-1 defeat to PSV in the Champions League. The club spent £446 million on transfers this summer, and broke the British transfer record twice. However, since the beginning of the season, the team's performances have only deteriorated further.

Players look off the pace, the tactical structure is failing, and defensive gaps appear every week. It's Liverpool's worst run in more than 70 years, and some of the fans don't think Slot is the right person to fix the situation. In this article, we break down who will be the club's manager on January 1, 2026.

Pic about liverpool next manager odds

Odds for Liverpool's manager on 01.01.2026

Despite the crisis, Slot remains the clear favourite at 1.50 to still be in charge on 1 January. Behind him, Andoni Iraola at 6.00 leads the chasing pack that includes Jurgen Klopp, Steven Gerrard, and Xabi Alonso.

Manager Odds
Arne Slot 1.50
Andoni Iraola 6.00
Jurgen Klopp 11.00
Steven Gerrard 11.00
Xabi Alonso 11.00
Ange Postecoglou 17.00
Oliver Glasner 17.00

Arne Slot

Slot's situation is difficult to judge because his first season at Liverpool has been memorable. Since becoming a manager in April 2024, he delivered a Premier League title, smashed managerial records, beat Real Madrid, and even reached the EFL cup final. His start to this season looked strong too, picking up another Manager of the Month award after five straight league wins.

Then everything fell apart. Nine defeats in twelve games, and heavy losses at Anfield. Yet Slot doesn't sound like a man expecting the sack. After the PSV humiliation, he admitted he's "not worried" about his position. And truthfully, the board seems hesitant to act. They know he's achieved a lot in a short space of time, they understand the emotional toll of Diogo Jota's death on the squad, and they appear willing to give him a chance to reset rather than change direction immediately.

Andoni Iraola

Iraola is the favourite to replace Slot, and his rise makes it easy to see why. He's taken Bournemouth to a level nobody expected, turning them into a brave, energetic side that plays with personality. Even Pep Guardiola praised his work earlier.

Liverpool's sporting director Richard Hughes knows Iraola well from their time together at Bournemouth. That connection naturally puts him on the shortlist if things with Slot continue to unravel. The big question, though, is whether he's ready for a squad full of elite players. Iraola has never worked at a club of Liverpool's size, so adapting his style and managing big dressing-room egos would be a huge challenge. Still, he is the candidate who makes a lot of sense.

Jurgen Klopp

Klopp will always be in any Liverpool succession chat, which is why the bookmakers still keep him near the top of the market. His legacy includes a Champions League crown, a long-awaited Premier League title, and one of the most dominant stretches in the club's modern history. Realistically, the comeback feels far-fetched. Klopp left Anfield because he was ready to retire. Since then, he has repeatedly said he's done with day-to-day coaching and is now fully settled into his role at Red Bull.

One thing Jurgen has said is he would never coach another club in England, which means if he ever did return, it would only be Liverpool. But despite that line, nothing in his recent comments suggests a man preparing for a dugout comeback. Right now, this feels more like nostalgia fuel than a genuine scenario.

Steven Gerrard

Gerrard grew up at the club, captained it through Istanbul and Cardiff, and is still the player many fans associate with the badge. As a coach, he's shown both sides of the coin: an unbeaten season and Europa League runs with Rangers, then a tough spell at Aston Villa and a short stint at Al-Ettifaq. He's currently without a club and turned down the offer from Rangers in October.

Steven has spoken openly about "unfinished business" in management. However, he wants a team capable of competing for trophies, not a rescue job in chaos. Gerrard's comments after the PSV defeat showed he still cares about the club, but he didn't speak like a man expecting a call. Maybe he needs to prove himself again at the top level, but saving Liverpool won't help him do that.

Xabi Alonso

It's a bit surprising to see Xabi sitting among the top contenders, especially with Real Madrid looking strong this season. However, he has a problem communicating with some of the players, especially Vinicius Junior. It got to the point where the Brazilian claimed he might not sign a new deal if Alonso stays as the manager. Still, one player should not be the reason for the club to sack their manager, especially when he's showing good results.

For Liverpool fans, Xabi's name naturally brings excitement. He's a club legend, a Champions League hero, and someone many imagined returning to Anfield one day. But even with that emotional pull, it feels unlikely he'd leave Madrid mid-season unless something truly explodes behind the scenes.

Ange Postecoglou

Postecoglou is a surprising but genuinely interesting name in the conversation. He's currently unemployed after his chaotic spell at Tottenham, where he delivered both a Europa League title and one of the club's worst-ever Premier League seasons. His football is bold and attacking, exactly the kind of identity Liverpool fans were crying out for. That alone makes him a tempting wildcard.

Reports claim Liverpool are weighing him up as pressure grows on Slot. The upside with Ange is clear: no compensation, proven big-club experience and a philosophy that motivates players. The risk? His teams can be thrilling or completely unstable.

Oliver Glasner

Unlike some of the other candidates, Glasner genuinely feels like a coach on the rise. His work at Crystal Palace has been hugely impressive: an FA Cup win, a Community Shield, and a team that suddenly looks organised, aggressive and confident. Many in England describe him as an incredible coach, and with his contract running down, the timing is interesting.

Liverpool's hierarchy have taken notice, especially as Glasner has shown he can build structure around talented players. He balances attacking football without chaos and discipline without losing creativity. The only concern is the same as with Iraola. Oliver has never managed such an elite club. However, if Slot is sacked, Glasner ticks a lot of boxes for the team.

Prediction for Liverpool Manager on 01.01.2026

The picture at Anfield looks genuinely concerning. Nobody can say with confidence how soon Liverpool will rediscover their spark. Slot is in the hot seat, and several names we discussed in this article feel like fair, realistic replacements. However, despite the noise, we think the club will lean toward patience and give the Dutchman time. He has already achieved some good things with the club and just needs to steady the ship. We at MightyTips predict Arne Slot to remain Liverpool's manager on 01.01.2026.
