The stage is set for the rematch of the 2023 World Cup quarterfinal, as France will once again host South Africa at Stade de France in Saint-Denis. The Springboks won by a single point two years ago on the way to defending their world title in one of the greatest matches in history. Now Les Bleus want revenge, but the statistics are not on their side, to say the least.
MightyTips pundits talk about head-to-head stats, the form of both teams and their squad news before making a prediction on the outcome and providing another betting tip for the test, which will take place on November 8 in the French capital.

France won just two of their last 10 matches against South Africa, with both victories coming on home soil. The latest triumph was celebrated in November 2022 at Stade Vélodrome in Marseille, when the hosts won 30-26. The total line for this game is 52.5 points. In the last 10 meetings, the teams combined scored more than that four times, while six more matches finished with a lower total.
This is the first game for France in the Autumn Nations Series. The team coached by Fabien Galthié is 4 and 4 this year. While beating Wales, Italy, Ireland, and Scotland, the French lost all three tests to New Zealand in July and were defeated 26-25 by England. Despite that loss, they won the Six Nations Championship, edging England by a point.

Les Bleus will be without two key players, as Matthieu Jalibert and Romain Taofifenua have both been sidelined through injury. Jalibert, who started at fly-half in just one Six Nations match earlier this year after being a first-choice pick at the last World Cup, suffered a thigh injury. His spot was taken by uncapped Ugo Seunes, who ultimately didn't make the final selection.
In the second row, Taofifenua's absence is another blow, but the rest of France's core lineup remains intact. Wing Louis Bielle-Biarrey, Player of the tournament at the 2025 Six Nations Championship, will be a major attacking threat, with Gaël Fickou leading the side as captain.
The defending world champions were victorious in nine out of 11 matches throughout 2025. They lost one match each to Australia and New Zealand, but managed to make amends in the second test against both sides. In their last encounter on November 1, the Springboks demolished Japan 61-7 in London.

Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu impressed with two tries in the victory against Japan, bringing renewed spark and creativity to the fly-half position, where he plays alongside experienced players Manie Libbok and Handré Pollard. On the downside, the Springboks will miss prop Ox Nché, who is sidelined with a knee injury. Captain Siya Kolisi is set to earn his 100th test cap, a major milestone that adds extra inspiration and pride to the squad ahead of this highly anticipated clash.
As much as France would love to get revenge for the loss in 2023 at this exact stadium, we simply have to pick the leaders of the world rankings. The Springboks have won the last two World Cups for a reason, and they have a huge advantage over France in previous matches. Besides, the French are playing their first match since July, and South Africa already have five tests in autumn under their belt.
We expect this test to be a tight and physical one, with both sides boasting strong defences and tactical kicking game. While France may try to speed up play at home, the Springboks' power and discipline should keep the scoreline controlled. We believe it will be a low-to-mid scoring contest, so our tip is betting under 51.5 points at 1.90.
