Malmo FF host Serbian giants Crvena Zvezda at Eleda Stadion on January 22 as part of the UEL league phase. This fixture brings together two teams of very different calibre. Zvezda are keeping their playoff hopes alive in Europe while also pushing for top spot in the Serbian league. Malmo, on the other hand, have finished 6th in the Allsvenskan and are struggling at the bottom of the Europa League standings. Here, we break down the teams' current form, analyse the betting odds, and share our predictions for this Europa League clash.

Crvena Zvezda are the favourites at 1.95, with Malmo's chances to win are rated at 3.25, rightfully so. Here are the betting lines for the game in Sweden.

Malmo are in a difficult situation, with their Europa League campaign effectively over. The Swedish side sit 34th in the table, far from the playoff zone, having picked up just one point from six matches. That point came in a 1-1 home draw against Dinamo Zagreb back in October. Defeats against Panathinaikos, Nottingham Forest and Porto followed. Across the league phase, Malmo have scored just three goals while conceding 12.
Domestically, the picture is hardly brighter. Malmo finished sixth in the league, missing out on European qualification for the 2026/27 season. The club signed Miguel Angel Ramirez as their new manager at the start of the year. The Spaniard is yet to see a competitive match, because the team is currently in the domestic off-season. There were some positive signs, though. The team won 1-0 in a friendly against Sparta Prague last week.
Crvena Zvezda have far more confidence and momentum, having put together a strong Europa League campaign. The Serbian champions sit 17th in the table and remain firmly in the playoff race after collecting three wins from their last four European matches. The winter break also brought a change, with Dejan Stankovic returning as head coach. He will try to lead the club into the UEL knockout phase while keeping them on course for a ninth consecutive domestic title.
Defensively, Zvezda have been particularly solid, allowing few clear chances to their opponents during this stretch and showing an ability to protect narrow leads. Domestically, they continue to perform at a high level as well, currently sitting second in the Serbian SuperLiga. The Star travel to Sweden, knowing that another positive result would keep their knockout hopes very much alive.
Crvena Zvezda come into this clash as the more active and motivated side. They're still fighting for a place in the UEL playoffs and carrying a far greater rhythm. Malmo's defensive issues have been exposed throughout the league phase, and those problems are unlikely to disappear during the off-season. Zvezda should eventually find a way through and do enough to claim an away victory.
Alternative betting angle for this match would be that both teams will not score at 2.10. Crvena Zvezda have kept clean sheets in their last three Europa League wins.
Under 10 corners at 2.10 is worth considering. Malmo have failed to earn a single corner in their two recent Europa League matches.
