The Autumn Nations Series is almost over, and you couldn't ask for a more principal encounter at the very end, as England host Argentina in Twickenham. While the football rivalry between the two countries can't be compared with anything else, the passions will still be running high on Sunday.
England will try to extend their 10-match winning streak, but Argentina are dreaming of finishing the year on a high, too, after successive victories in Wales and Scotland. Mightytips previews the test in the UK capital, analysing head-to-head statistics, form, and squad news, before providing a couple of predictions on this highly anticipated clash.

The teams have met 29 times, and England have the upper hand with 23 victories, one draw and five defeats. They have beaten Argentina in nine of the last ten matches, including two wins at the 2023 World Cup - at the group stage and in the bronze final. However, Argentina defeated England in the last match at Twickenham Stadium, celebrating a dramatic 30-29 victory in November 2022.
England started the year by losing to Ireland in the Six Nations Championship in Dublin, which ultimately cost them first place. Steve Borthwick's side then won 10 games in a row, including two victories in Argentina in July during the Summer Internationals. In the Autumn Nations Series, the Red Roses have defeated Australia, Fiji, and New Zealand in Twickenham, and the winning margin was at least 14 points in each of those tests.

Borthwick has announced his squad for the last test of the year on Wednesday. Elliot Daly returns to the left wing, taking the place of Tom Roebuck, who is sidelined with a foot injury. Ollie Lawrence is also absent due to a hamstring problem, allowing Henry Slade to partner Fraser Dingwall in midfield, with Tommy Freeman still out. Freddie Steward starts again at full-back, while Ben Spencer replaces Alex Mitchell at scrum-half.
In the forwards, Jamie George is out with a hamstring injury, so Luke Cowan-Dickie will start. Ellis Genge takes over from Fin Baxter at loosehead prop, and Borthwick raised some eyebrows by selecting Asher Opoku-Fordjour at tighthead, with Joe Heyes absent and Will Stuart on the bench. Alex Coles continues alongside captain Maro Itoje at lock, with Ollie Chessum still injured. England maintains the back-row trio of Guy Pepper, Sam Underhill, and Ben Earl. The bench has a 6-2 split again, with Theo Dan covering hooker and Charlie Ewels preferred over Chandler Cunningham-South. Fin Smith is once again left out completely.
Argentina had 12 matches in 2025, and all of them were played in the second part of the year. The Pumas have six victories with six defeats so far, and the wins over New Zealand and Australia are among the noticeable results. In November, they smashed Wales 52-28 in Cardiff and then made a stunning comeback in Glasgow against Scotland. Argentinians were trailing by 21 points, but scored five tries in the last 24 minutes to celebrate a 33-24 win.

While we are confident that England will prevail, there's not much value in betting that at 1.25. The handicap of 9.5 points is a tricky one, too, as this test might be close and nervous until the very end. That's why we suppose that betting on England to win both halves at 2.20 is a more promising option, especially given the fact that Argentina tend to start slowly.
Our second bet is based on two aspects - England playing amazingly in 2025, especially in home games in November, and Argentina making constant mistakes in defence. The Red Roses have an advantage in most positions, which should help them score lots of points. Hence, we'll opt for England scoring over 30.5 points at 1.90.
