The boxing world is shocked: Netflix could announce a highly unlikely and delusional heavyweight bout between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua on Monday. The fight between Paul and former two-time unified heavyweight champion Joshua is set to take place in Miami, provisionally on 19 or 26 December, and it will be streamed live on Netflix.

Joshua hasn't stepped into the ring since September 2024, when he was brutally KOed by Daniel Dubois. Meanwhile, Paul had almost completed his training camp for the fight against Gervonta Davis, but the latter got into legal trouble once again. Paul never stops surprising us with the opponents he chooses. He's gone from questionable wins over aged MMA veterans and influencers to taking on genuine boxers. He now holds a 12-1 record with his only loss coming against Tommy Fury, the first real boxer he fought. Joshua may be past his absolute peak, but he's still a massive step up for Jake. The former champion currently owns a 28-4 record. After back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk, followed by what looked like an emotional meltdown on the mic, he rebounded with four straight wins. His knockout of Francis Ngannou was especially impressive, considering that Ngannou had troubled Tyson Fury before fighting Anthony.

In his last fight against Dubois, Joshua didn't look like himself and got dropped early. He had a year-long layoff due to elbow surgery, but he's already been back in training for months. At his best, Joshua's crisp combinations, timing, and explosive knockout power are levels above anything Paul has faced. That KO loss and the surgery could affect Joshua physically and mentally, though his experience alone dwarfs Paul's entire resume.

Jake Paul will likely approach this fight with extreme caution. He won't want to risk his chin against someone who hits as hard as Joshua, so expect plenty of jabs and attempts to counter when AJ opens up. Joshua's durability isn't what it used to be, but it's still difficult to imagine Paul hurting him in any meaningful way.
