Werder fans haven’t had much to cheer lately. The River Islanders are winless in six matches, drawing three and losing three. Worse still, four of those games passed without a goal. One of the home defeats, a brutal 4-0 loss to Stuttgart, still stings.

Still, the Weserstadion has offered some comfort. Three of Werder’s four league wins this season have come here, and last season’s 2-0 home win over Frankfurt is still fresh enough to matter. Younes Ebnoutalib picked up an injury 20 minutes into the Stuttgart match and is expected to miss out. That likely opens the door for Jean-Mattéo Bahoya, who has two league goals, to partner Ansgar Knauff in attack.

Frankfurt’s injury list remains heavy, with Jonathan Burkardt, Michy Batshuayi, Timothy Chandler, Elias Baum, Can Uzun and Ebnoutalib all unavailable.
