Tunisia team overview
Tunisia are the 40th team in the FIFA World Ranking List and the seventh-best team on the African continent. The popular Eagles of Carthage are regular participant in the AFCON, winning the competition in 2004, but haven't been as great since, with most of their campaigns ending in the quarter-finals. The only exception came in 2019, when they advanced further and finished fourth. In the World Cup, they qualified on the past two occasions and easily secured a spot in the upcoming WC by winning 28 points in 10 rounds.
Before the AFCON, Tunisia had a poor showing at the FIFA Arab Cup, finishing 3rd in the group alongside Palestine, Syria, and Qatar, and exiting in the Group Stage. However, they missed most of their best players from European clubs, and that poor result wasn't too big of a surprise because of it. For the AFCON, the situation will be different, and the Eagles of Carthage are expected to secure a place in the next phase of the competition without too much trouble.

Uganda team overview
Uganda are the 85th team in the FIFA World Ranking List, and 17th out of 53 national teams on the African continent. They have never reached the World Cup, and a team that often misses the AFCON. They missed the previous two tournaments in Ivory Coast and Cameroon in 2023 and 2021, but had a very good Qualifiers and easily secured an appearance in this year's tournament.
Before the AFCON, Uganda had a decent run in the World Cup Qualifiers. Even though they again failed to reach it, they did not disappoint, finishing second and three points away from reaching it through the ranking of the second-placed teams in the Qualifiers. The popular Cranes are entering the AFCON as one of the weakest teams, and securing a place in the next phase would be a surprise.

Prediction
While Tunisia struggled in the FIFA Arab Cup, they missed some of their key players. Their real picture was in the World Cup Qualifiers, where they dominated, winning nine out of ten games.
Uganda had a decent WC Qualifiers, winning six out of ten games. However, most of their wins came against teams weaker than Tunisia. Uganda are also a team with very little experience in big competitions like AFCON, and Tunisia will undoubtedly have a massive advantage in that department.
Additionally, there is a massive difference in total market value between these teams. Tunisia's total market is around 70 million euros, compared to Uganda's 8 million.
Considering all the above, we firmly believe Tunisia are a better team and should open the tournament with a comfortable win.
3 Reasons why Tunisia should win
- Tunisia's total market is 69 million euros, compared to Uganda's 8 million euros
- Tunisia lost once in the last nine games
- Uganda failed to qualify for the previous two AFCONs
