Torino’s season began in a way that still makes supporters wince a little. Losing 5–0 at Inter on opening day set a strange, jittery tone, and Marco Baroni’s group managed just one win from their first six league fixtures.

They did rally with a five match unbeaten stretch that included stubborn wins over Napoli and Genoa, although that momentum evaporated fairly quickly. The Maroons have since slipped into a run of three straight defeats, conceding ten and scoring only four, yet their first half against Milan earlier this week offered a flicker of personality.

Scoring twice inside seventeen minutes is no small thing, and at least all four of their wins this season have come at home. Giovanni Simeone, who leads Torino’s scoring chart with four in the league, is pushing to start after coming on from the bench last time out.

Baroni still has to navigate a messy injury list. Perr Schuurs, Zanos Savva, Ivan Ilić and Ardian Ismajli are all working through various knocks, and the squad looks thinner than he would like heading into the second part of the campaign.

Cremonese launched their season with a bit more certainty. They took a 2–1 victory at Milan in their first top flight match since 2022–23, which probably surprised even some of their own supporters.

Another win came straight after against Sassuolo, and after nine rounds Davide Nicola’s side had lost only once. That rhythm dipped with three consecutive defeats, although the team have since rediscovered a bit of bite with wins against Bologna and Lecce.

Moreover, three of their four league victories this season were picked up on the road, so Nicola will quietly believe his group can stretch the run to a third straight win.

Defensively, Cremonese take a hit. Centre back Mikayil is out with an ankle issue, Michele Collocolo misses out with a hamstring strain, and Giuseppe Pezzella is battling a flu that might keep him sidelined.
