Sporting CP won the double last season, securing the league and cup titles. This year, the popular Lions are not close to winning the title, but they are averaging around the same number of points. At the moment, they are in 3rd place with 72 points from 30 rounds - three points away from 2nd place, which leads to Champions League Qualifiers, but with one game played less. Unfortunately for the Lions, the 1st-placed FC Porto have been simply amazing and are 10 points ahead, having played one game more. To be fair, Sporting CP kept the pace with Porto for most of the season, but after winning one point in the previous two league games, the Dragons created a gap and pretty much finished the job. 

On the positive side, the Lions secured a place in the Taça de Portugal Finals against Torreense after eliminating Porto in mid-April. So, their primary objectives at the moment are to secure that second place and win the Taça de Portugal. And looking at their remaining schedule, we believe they are more than capable of doing so.

Morten Hjulmand and Goncalo Inacio suffered injuries in the FC Porto game and missed the following game against AFS. They will most likely remain sidelined, along with players who are dealing with prior injuries - Ivan Fresneda, Fotis Ioannidis, and Nuno Santos. 

Tondela secured promotion to the Portuguese top flight after winning Liga Portugal 2 last season. Their only goal this season is to survive somehow. However, it became clear from the very start that it would not be an easy task. They've spent the entire season in the bottom three spots! Right now, they are in 17th place with 21 points from 30 rounds and are five points away from 16th place, which leads to relegation playout.

Full-back Tiago Manso received his fifth yellow card in the previous game and will serve his one-game suspension. Unfortunately, another full back, Rodrigo Conceicao, suffered an injury in the previous game and will most likely miss the match as well, along with Cicero, who has been dealing with a muscle injury for the past two months.
