Shelbourne came to this season after a fantastic one last year when they grabbed their 14th title, stopping Shamrock's dominant four-year stretch. That was Shelbourne's first title since 2006, but another title seems very unlikely, considering how they started this year. Right now, after 19 rounds, the "Reds" are sitting in fifth place with 27 points - already nine points behind the league's leader, Shamrock Rovers.
Shamrock Rovers were a dominant team in recent years, winning four consecutive titles before the last year. Last season, the popular Hoops finished second, just behind Shelbourne. However, this year has been promising as they once again look like the best team in the league and the primary candidate for the title. Currently, the Hoops are in the top spot with 36 points from 19 rounds, and it appears they are improving as the season progresses.
Shelbourne vs Shamrock Rovers pick: Both teams to score
Shelbourne have been solid lately, losing just once in the last five games. Also, at home, they are a lot better team, averaging around 0.4 points per game more there than away from home. At their stadium, they scored at least one goal in seven out of ten matches - 70%.
Shamrock Rovers are in excellent form, having won five of the last six matches. If we look at their offensive record, we can see that they have been very effective, scoring two or more goals in five of their five matches. Additionally, Shamrock Rovers are the second-best team in the league when it comes to this bet away from home. In nine road games, both teams scored on seven occasions - 78%.
Last season, these teams met twice, with both games ending in draws - 1:1 and 2:2. Considering all the above, we believe that both teams to score bet should be the safest option for this Premier Division tie.

Recently, coach Damien Duff spoke to the media. He spoke about the two-week break they had and said he is not a fan of it as some of the boys went on vacations. "It feels a bit amateurish to me, and it's something that doesn't really sit well. But that's for the powers that be to figure out. Personally, I'm not a fan of it," the coach added.
