The signing of Mason Greenwood from Premier League side Manchester United last season turned out to be a success. Marseille finished second, their best result in the French top flight since 2021–22, and they also ended the season strongly, winning four of their final five games.
The Olympians were deadly in the final third, scoring 17 goals in those five games, and this offensive prowess could well continue this season following the signing of Aubameyang from Saudi Arabia. Roberto De Zerbi’s side showed glimpses of last season's form during pre-season, especially in their victories against Excelsior Maassluis, Girona and, most recently, Aston Villa.
