Barcelona travel to Seville looking for a win that would keep them top of the table, but a trip to Betis is never an easy day. The 13-point gap between the sides may seem comfortable, but the hosts are entrenched in the top five and have shown recently that they know how to ruffle even bigger clubs. Bookmakers side with the Catalans, but calling this a formality would be a stretch.

La Liga
These two have faced off a total of eight times since 2023, distributed among La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. Barcelona won five of those games, the other three were draws, suggesting Betis could be a trickier obstacle for many. And it has also been a goals spectacle, with an average of four goals per match.
Real Betis team overview
Betis look like a side who are creeping up the ladder. They were seventh two seasons ago, finished sixth last season and are currently fifth after 14 games, which is a testament to Pellegrini’s sure touch.
Los Verdiblancos have lost on four occasions this term, it is true, but each of their four league wins so far have been at the Villamarín and that gives this game a slightly different tint.
Pellegrini’s side go into it in bullish mood following an eight-match unbeaten streak and six wins, with the feeling that anything is now possible.
They also escaped defeat in two of their final three clashes with Barcelona, so getting something here does not sound unreasonable.
Antony returns after sitting out against Sevilla due to suspension, and the visitors are also a clean bill of health – though Nathan is one yellow card away from suspension.

Barcelona team overview
Barça have been trying to stitch things back together after that bruising 3-0 loss to Chelsea in the Champions League barely a week ago.
Flick’s side responded with two 3-1 league wins over Alavés and Atlético, which at least eased some of the noise around the team. Some will point out that both victories came at home, but when you look at their away numbers, the picture is not as gloomy since only Real Madrid have been better travellers this season.
But one win in their past five away matches is the kind of stat captain Raphinha and co don’t want to take with them into Villamarín.
To complicate matters, Dani Olmo is likely to be ruled out after injuring his shoulder against Atlético and will join Fermín López, Marc-André ter Stegen and Ronald Araújo on the list of absentees.

Prediction
Barcelona could win this one, 3-2, simply because their attack has gotten going again with 10 goals in its last three league matches. Betis have been good at home, but Pellegrini’s men still shipped in four of their last five matches. With the last seven editions of this fixture averaging four goals since 2023, a high-scoring Barça win feels viable if not particularly likely despite the hosts' fine form.
Three reasons we expect at least three goals in this game
- All the last 17 games of Barcelona ended with over 2.5 goals.
- 5 of the last 6 meetings between Betis and Barca produced 4+ goals.
- Betis scored 2+ goals in six of their last eight matches.
Main prediction Real Betis - FC Barcelona
Over 2.5 goals
