It feels like a while ago now, but Rangers’ shaky spell between November and early December still lingers in the background. One win in five matches raised real questions at the time. Then came Saturday. The Old Firm tends to distort seasons, and coming from behind to beat Celtic 3-1 did more than just add three points. It restored belief.

That result pushed the Gers to three straight wins, and suddenly momentum is back in the room. Danny Röhl’s side have been especially reliable at Ibrox lately, winning their last three home games. Add in a strong recent record here against Aberdeen, and most supporters will see anything less than a win as a disappointment.

Up front, Youssef Chermiti arrives in form after his brace against Celtic, taking him to three goals for the season. He is expected to start alongside Mikey Moore, who has already chipped in with four.

Not everything is perfect, though. Derek Cornelius, Oliver Antman, John Souttar, and Bailey Rice are all sidelined, trimming Röhl’s options at the back and in midfield.

Aberdeen’s form makes for tougher reading. The Dons are winless in five, with four defeats and a single draw, and the confidence has drained out of recent performances. Their latest outing summed things up.

A 1-0 loss away to Falkirk, no goals scored for the second match running, and a fourth consecutive away defeat. Those patterns are rarely comforting.

There is, however, a small silver lining. Jimmy Thelin has a fully fit squad to work with and no suspensions to juggle, which at least allows for stability in selection.

Jesper Karlsson remains the main threat, leading the club’s scoring charts with five goals and likely to spearhead the attack again.

In midfield, Kenan Bilalović is worth watching. His two goals do not tell the full story, but his energy and timing could matter if Aberdeen hope to disrupt Rangers’ rhythm rather than simply chase shadows.
