PSG vs Marseille prediction 08.02.2026 | Ligue 1

PSG had a magnificent last season, dominantly winning the triple. This season, the Parisians aren't as dominant as expected and won't be able to replicate last season's success, as they have already been eliminated from the domestic Cup. Meanwhile, in the Ligue 1, despite being at the top, Lens are just two points behind them. In the last season(s), no one was even remotely as close to PSG in Ligue 1. Generally speaking, the Parisians aren't bad, but they have shown big flaws recently, having "only" won three of the past seven games (in regular time). That is way below their expectations.

The team's captain, Achraf Hakimi, received a red card and will be suspended for the Marseille game. That is a big blow for the team, especially considering that Fabian Ruiz and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will most likely also miss the match due to injuries sustained recently. 

Marseille have been mostly the second or third best team in France in recent seasons. This season, "Les Phocéens" are again around their usual Ligue 1 place, considering they are currently sitting in 3rd place - nine points behind PSG and seven behind Lens. However, their Champions League campaign has been a disaster, exiting the competition in the league phase due to a worse goal difference than Benfica. That CL failure eventually led to coach De Zebi offering resignation. In one of the interviews, the coach questioned whether he is the ideal coach for Marseille. However, the board declined that resignation, at least for now.

After a 3:0 win over Rennes, coach Roberto De Zerbi spoke to the media. He expressed satisfaction with the victory and his team's reaction. The coach said it was a huge win to regain confidence after a difficult period, especially in the Champions League.
