Palmeiras have been among the best teams in Brazil in the last decade, winning four Serie A titles, a couple of Cup titles, and even two Copa Libertadores titles in 2020 and 2021. In the Copa Libertadores, they lost 3:0 vs. LDU Quito in the Semi-Finals, and they will have a challenging task to overcome that. After the Cruzerio game, they will have the second leg game vs LDU Quito. So, a pretty challenging moment for the Big Green in both Serie A and Copa Libertadores. 

After a 3:0 loss vs LDU Quito, coach Abel Ferreira spoke to the media. He was unhappy with his team's performance, saying the opposing team was better and deserved to win. However, he emphasized that there are still 90 minutes left in Sao Paulo and that they would give their maximum to overcome the deficit. 

Since returning to Serie A in the 2022 season, Cruzeiro have constantly improved over the following seasons. From finishing 14th and ninth, they are now a team that could win the title with a strong end of the season. Right now, they are in third place, just five points away from the top spot and their next opponent, Palmeiras, but with one game played more. 

After a 1:0 win over Fortaleza, coach Leonardo Jardim spoke to the media. He was happy with a win, but still noted they had errors in the second half, which Fortaleza did not exploit. When asked about a mini-bad run before the Fortaleza game, the coach answered that they played well but were unlucky because they could easily win the game vs Sport Recife, which would drastically change the overall picture.
