The Tricky Trees had a rough stretch not too long ago. Just one win between February and mid-March, and only four points from seven league games. That is usually how relegation trouble starts.

However, something has shifted recently. A draw at the Etihad, another against Fulham, and then that 3-0 win away at Tottenham. Those are not easy fixtures.

There is also the European angle. Beating Midtjylland and then drawing with Porto in midweek suggests this squad is finding some rhythm. At home, Vítor Pereira’s side have avoided defeat in four of their last five, which should give them a bit of belief.

Chris Wood is back from injury and started against Porto, though his minutes will likely be managed. John Victor, Nicolò Savona, Willy Boly and Jair Cunha remain out, which still limits depth in key areas.

The Lions had their own dip not too long ago. Two wins in nine games is not what you expect from a top-four side. Still, Unai Emery’s side seem to have found some rhythm again.

Three straight wins, including two 2-0 results and a 3-1 victory in Europe, suggest control has returned. Even so, away form in the league raises a question.

Just one win in their last five on the road feels slightly underwhelming. Not terrible, but not convincing either.
