Last season, Newcastle again ended among the top five teams in the English top flight and, after one year of absence, secured a place in the Champions League. Newcastle had big ambitions for the 2025/26 season, but after eight rounds, the Magpies collected only nine points and are closer to the relegation zone than to the top of the standings.

However, it seems that Newcastle is on the track to return to their best form, as they won three of the last four matches across all competitions. In the previous game, Newcastle won 3-0 at home in the Champions League against Benfica. The hosts were significantly better throughout the game and recorded an important victory.

Newcastle hammered Benfica, and the head coach, Eddie Howe, was very satisfied. After the game, he commented, "We have strength, but it is on paper - you have to go and prove it. Last season, the squad won a trophy, but we have to go to work and prove the strength of the squad warrants the feeling I have. Newcastle have some problems with injuries. They will be without Valentino Livramento, Lewis Hall, Yoane Wissa, and Harrison Ashby on Saturday afternoon against Fulham.

In recent years, under the head coach Marco Silva, Fulham became one of the most stable teams in the Premier League with a few consecutive mid-table finishes. This season, Fulham didn't start well, as they have won only eight points so far. Silva's team struggled recently with three defeats in a row. In the previous game, they lost 1-0 at home against Arsenal. The home side ended with xG of 0.44, while the guests had 1.86, so it is no wonder that Fulham suffered another defeat. 

Although Fulham are not playing well this season, the board is, according to the English media, ready to offer Marco Silva a new deal. The current contract is expiring next summer, and Fulham is eager to tie the Portuguese head coach to a few more years. 

Sasa Lukic, Rodrigo Muniz Carvalho, Samuel Chukwueze, Joachim Andersen, and Antonee Robinson are injured and will not play on Saturday in Newcastle. Also, Tom Cairney is questionable.
