In-form Monaco look for a fifth successive domestic victory when they take on Brest on Saturday evening.

Les Rouge et Blancs return to the Stade Louis II after a sensational away win against Ligue1 champions PSG while Brest maintained their fine form with a comfortable victory against Le Havre.

Both teams have enjoyed success in past encounters, and given their recent form, a competitive and entertaining contest seems likely this weekend.

Monaco

Monaco team overview

Monaco return to home turf after an impressive 3-1 victory against Ligue 1 champions PSG last weekend. Second-half strikes from Aleksandr Golovin and Folarin Balogun sealed a memorable win at the Parc des Princes.

After suffering a painful 5-4 aggregate defeat to the Parisiens last month, Les Rouge et Blancs responded in emphatic fashion.

Sébastien Pocognoli's side have been in much stronger form in the past month or so, recording four victories while losing just one of only six previous matches.

A strong record in this fixture should give Monaco plenty of encouragement this weekend. Les Rouge et Blancs won six of eight previous encounters, while they secured victories in each of their last six meetings at this venue.

Head coach Pocognoli remains unable to call on several first-team players. Lukáš Hrádecký, Takumi Minamino, Mohammed Salisu, Kassoum Ouattara, Krépin Diatta, Paul Pogba and Eric Dier are all ruled out this weekend.

Brest

Brest team overview

Brest arrive in the south of France in high spirits after picking up a comfortable 2:0 win against Le Havre last weekend. Romain Del Castillo and Ludovic Ajorque grabbed the headlines as Eric Roy's side continued their fine run of recent form.

Coming into this weekend's Ligue 1 contest, Brest are now unbeaten in six matches, with four wins and two draws claimed since back-to-back Ligue 1 defeats in January.

Despite their improved form, the Pirates have largely struggled on their travels this season. Brest lost six and won only three of their last 12 away Ligue 1 encounters.

Head coach Roy has just one injury worry this weekend. Mama Baldé faces a late fitness test to determine his availability for the visitors.

Prediction

Monaco should have the edge in a likely high-scoring Ligue 1 contest on Saturday.

A home win is my first pick, and I also expect a minimum of three goals scored at the Stade Louis II.

Three Reasons Why We Expect Monaco to Win

  1. Monaco have won their last 4 matches (Ligue 1)
  2. Monaco have won their 6 of their last 8 matches against Brest
  3. Brest lost 6 of their last 12 away matches (Ligue 1)
