After three seasons without the Champions League, Manchester United are only a few more steps away from returning to the most elite continental competition. Michael Carrick's team is seven points above the sixth-placed Chelsea, and only a terrible run could leave Manchester United without their goal. Since Carrick took over as interim manager, the Red Devils are the best team in the Premier League with a 7-2-1 record. In the previous game, they played 2-2 on the road against Bournemouth. The teams were pretty even, and splitting points seemed the fairest outcome. 

When Michael Carrick took charge as interim manager in January, most expected him simply to steady the ship and guide the Red Devils through the remainder of the season. After an excellent three months, Carrick seems like a frontrunner for a permanent job. Reports suggest that if Manchester United fail to secure a world-class appointment at the end of the campaign, Carrick could be given another opportunity at the helm.

Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Dorgu, and Harry Maguire are unavailable for the upcoming tie against Leeds. Also, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko, and Lisandro Martinez are questionable. 

Leeds returned to the Premier League this season. They are only three points above the relegation zone and urgently need points. Leeds lost only three of the last 14 matches across all competitions. However, most of the games ended in draws. In the most recent outing, Leeds won after penalties on the road in the FA Cup against West Ham.

Leeds' manager, Daniel Farke, was thrilled after a victory against West Ham. He said, "To reach, for the first time in a while, the semifinal, the game should be like this with ups and downs and setbacks. We could have made our lives a bit easier after an excellent start to the game. But West Ham is also a Premier League side that is, of course, giving everything and trying everything to come back into the game."

Joe Rodon, Anton Stach, and Daniel James are injured and will not play on Monday night, while Jaka Bijol, Gabriel Gudmundsson, and Noah Okafor are questionable and their statuses will be clearer closer to the kickoff.
