- Venue: Huvepharma Arena
Ludogorets and Ferencvaros will meet in the third round of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League qualifiers in the first leg at the Huvepharma Arena on Wednesday.
The Bulgarian champions had to travel a long way to reach the third round of the competition. The journey to qualify for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League began in the first round against Dinamo Minsk. It was a difficult match, with Ludogorets even needing extra time to advance to the next round, which they won 3-2. In the second qualifying round, Ludogorets had to play extra time again after a 180-minute match against Rijeka ended 1-1. In the end, the Bulgarian champions won 3-1 in extra time, with two Rijeka players being sent off.
Ferencvaros, on the other hand, were luckier in the draw and only started their UEFA Champions League 25/26 qualifying campaign in the second round. Nevertheless, it was not an easy game for the Hungarian champions, who only managed to defeat FC Noah from Armenia 6-4 on aggregate.

The two teams have met six times in the last six years, including two friendlies in 2019, but if you exclude the friendlies, Ferencvaros had the upper hand over Ludogorets in the 2019 Champions League and Europa League competitive matches. The two teams met four times within six months, from mid-July to mid-December. Ferencvaros won both encounters in the Champions League qualifiers, but Ludogorets then returned the favour with a win and a draw in the Europa League group stage. To put it simply, Ferencvaros have won 2 of their last 4 H2H encounters, while Ludogorets have won 1 and drawn 1.
Ludogorets team overview
Aguibou Camara injured himself in the first round first leg match up against Dinamo Minsk and has not featured since. It is expected that Ludogorets should line up in a 4-3-3 formation, just like they did in the second leg against Rijeka.

Ferencvaros team overview
Aleksandar Pesic was substituted off in the 64th minute in the last Champions League qualifying match against FC Noah and is considered a doubt. He also missed the last league game against Kazincbarcika, but it could also mean that he was being rested for this Wednesday’s encounter. Barnabas Varga has scored two goals against FC Noah across the two legs and should be considered one of Ferencvaros’ main attacking forces.

Prediction
Ferencvaros have made a good start to the new season at both national and European level and are still unbeaten after their first four games. In the Hungarian Fizz Lig, there was one win and one draw - a 3-0 win against Kazincbarcika and a 1-1 draw against MTK Budapest - and in the second qualifying round of the UCL, they beat FC Noah in both games. Ludogorets, on the other hand, have started the 2025-16 season unbeaten in all competitions and are currently on a seven-game unbeaten streak. In the first two rounds of UEFA Champions League qualifying, however, they had to go into extra time twice to progress to the next round. Given these underwhelming performances in Europe, we have our doubts about their ability to reach the play-off round. Therefore, we are betting on a positive result for Ferencvaros on Wednesday - either a win or a draw (double odds x2).
Three reasons we expect Double chance x2
- Ferencvaros are still unbeaten after the first four games of the new season - domestic league and Champions League qualification
- Ludogorets had to play extra-time on two occasions in the first and second qualifying rounds of UCL 25/26
- Ferencvaros are often seen as having a higher pedigree in European competitions
Main prediction -
win or draw (X2)
