Lorient vs Lens prediction 14.03.2026 | Ligue 1

Lorient’s recent story has been fairly interesting. Les Merlus dropped into Ligue 2 two seasons ago after a difficult campaign. However the club responded well and secured promotion immediately, finishing as champions last year.

Many expected a difficult return to Ligue 1. Instead, Olivier Pantaloni’s side have looked surprisingly stable. Lorient sit comfortably in the top half of the table. Much of that success comes from resilience. Les Merlus rarely collapse and currently hold a five match unbeaten run, although four of those games ended in draws.

Home form gives supporters another reason for optimism. Lorient remain unbeaten in the last twelve matches at the Stade du Moustoir, winning six during that stretch.

Midfielder Laurent Abergel remains unavailable with an ankle injury. Left winger Pablo Pagis also misses out while recovering from concussion.

Lens have quietly taken a step forward this season. The Blood and Gold finished seventh and eighth in the previous two campaigns, which felt respectable but unspectacular. This year looks different. Pierre Sage’s side sit just one point behind PSG and boast the best defensive record in Ligue 1.

Recent form, however, feels slightly uneven. Lens have won only one of the last four matches. Two of those games ended in draws, and conceding five goals during that spell felt unusual for a defence that has usually looked so organised.

Away form adds another small question. The Blood and Gold managed just one win in the last three road games.

Odsonne Édouard has impressed since returning from the Premier League, scoring nine goals and adding three assists in 21 matches. The striker should lead the attack alongside Florian Thauvin, who has eight league goals.  Jonathan Gradit, Régis Gurtner, Samson Baidoo, Allan Saint-Maximin and Wesley Saïd remain sidelined with injuries.
