Lille vs Lyon prediction 11.01.2026 | Coupe de France

Lille have regularly been one of the top five Ligue 1 teams in the previous seasons. The current campaign is not much different for the team from Stade Pierre-Mauroy, as Lille are again in contention for the Champions League spot. However, their form is shaky, as Lille won only two of the last four matches. In the most recent outing, Bruno Genesio's team lost 2-0 at home against Rennes. Lille spent most of the game with ten men and was unable to cope with an inspired opponent.

Lille always had a few interesting talents in the squad. Currently, the most intriguing is Ayyoub Bouaddi. The 18-year-old midfielder played 15 Ligue 1  matches this season, but Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich are interested, and it will not be surprising if the youngster leaves Stade Pierre-Mauroy this January. 

Lille have big problems with missing players. They will be without Andre Gomes, Hamza Igamane, Aissa Mandi, Ethan Mbappe, Chancel Mbemba, Ngalayel Mukau, and Ousmane Toure on Sunday against Lyon. 

Lyon have big financial problems, but they still played well this season. Paulo Fonseca's team is currently only two points behind the Champions League positions in Ligue 1. Also, Lyon are in excellent form with four victories in a row. In the previous game, they won 3-1 on the road against Monaco. That was another impressive display from Fonseca's team, especially in defense, as they limited the hosts to xG of only 0.68. A victory like that should provide another significant confidence boost. 

Lyon are active in the transfer window. They loaned Endrick from Real Madrid last week, and he could debut for Fonseca's team on Sunday in Lille. Also, Lyon is very interested in Angers' Himad Abdelli and he could be another target this January. 

Moussa Niakhate is still at the African Cup of Nations and will not play on Sunday. Also, Malick Fofana and Ernest Nuamah will skip the game due to injuries.
