- Competition: Premier League
- Date: Monday, 18th August, 2025
- Kickoff: 20:00 UK / 21:00 CEST
- Venue: Elland Road (Leeds)
On Monday evening, the last Premier League game of the first round will take place between Leeds and Everton at Elland Road in Leeds. The primary goal for each team this season is to avoid relegation. However, we believe that Everton are very much capable of securing a mid-table finish. Before the start of the season, the bookies see Leeds as the third favorite for relegation with odds between 2 and 2.5 on that bet, while Everton are the seventh favorite (8-10 odds).

In the last five h2h games, we could see that the Toffees were a more successful team, winning three, while two games ended as draws.
However, when it comes to the games at Elland Road, the situation is much different as Leeds secured two wins, Everton one win, and two draws.
Leeds team overview
Leeds suffered relegation in the 2022/23 season from the English top-flight division but failed to achieve promotion in the following season despite being among the favorites to do so. They ended up in the Playoffs but failed to come out of it. But in the last year, the Whites dominated the Championship, winning an incredible 100 points!
During the offseason, the club (expectedly) improved the team, and we believe they have done a fine job. That good offseason translated into good results in friendlies as they drew all three games against excellent teams - AC Milan (1:1), Villarreal (1:1), and Manchester United (0:0).
Interestingly, on 15th August, the club managed to acquire Dominic Calvert-Lewin from their next opponent, Everton, and will have the chance to play against his former club. However, we believe he will get only limited minutes since he arrived just three days before the game.

Everton team overview
For four seasons in a row, Everton have finished their season in the lower part of the league's table. Last year, they had their struggles, but did not come near the relegation zone because the bottom three teams (Southampton, Ipswich, and Leicester) were atrocious. The Toffees eventually finished the season in 13th place with 48 points - 17 points away from European spots.
During the offseason, the club was pretty active, as eight players left the team and five arrived (plus Jack Grealish from MC on a loan deal). Still, it is difficult to say whether they improved the squad or not. Judging only from the results in friendlies, the Toffees will have another challenging season ahead of them.
Also, just before the start of the season, in the last friendly vs Roma, Vitaliy Mykolenko suffered an injury and had to leave the field after only 11 minutes. There is still no news about the seriousness of the injury, but he 26-year-old will most likely miss the season opener because of it.

Prediction
Leeds have been excellent for this type of bet in the pre-season, as they went under 2.5 goals in all three games with an average of 1.33 goals per game in their matches. Last year, they were excellent offensively, but we do not think they can do the same against much better competition.
Everton had a terrible pre-season, winning two points in six matches while scoring only four points - 0.67 per game.
Additionally, Everton have been by far the best team in the league for this type of bet, with 24 of their matches ending with fewer than three goals (63%).
Moreover, the last two h2h games ended with fewer than three goals. Considering all the above, an under 2.5 goals seems like the best option for this Premier League tie.
3 Reasons why we should see fewer than three goals
- Leeds went under 2.5 goals in all three friendlies
- Everton scored four goals in six friendlies
- The last two h2h games ended with fewer than three goals
Main prediction -
Under 2.5 goals
