- Competition: World Cup Qualification 2026, Europe
- Date: 11th October, 2025
- Kickoff: 17:00 UK / 18:00 CEST
- Venue: Puskás Aréna
The Group F qualification race for the 2026 FIFA World Cup intensifies as Hungary host Armenia at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest on October 11. Both sides are fighting for crucial points - Hungary are still seeking their first victory of the campaign, while Armenia remain in contention for an outside chance of qualification after their recent win over Ireland.
A victory for Armenia could significantly strengthen their hopes of securing the second spot, especially with group leaders Portugal facing Ireland in the same round. Conversely, a defeat for Hungary would severely damage their prospects of finishing in the top two and earning a potential qualification spot from Group F.
H2H stats
The head-to-head history between Hungary and Armenia is scarce. The only recorded meeting between the two sides was an unofficial friendly in 2004, which Hungary won comfortably 2-0.
Hungary team overview
Hungary have endured a year filled with disappointment and underwhelming performances. Marco Rossi’s side are winless in their last six matches across World Cup qualifiers and Nations League fixtures, managing just one victory in their previous eight games in all competitions, including friendlies. Even more concerning is their home form - the Hungarians are winless in seven consecutive matches on home soil. Their last home victory came in June 2024, when they defeated Israel 3-0 in a friendly.
Roland Sallai is expected to return to the starting XI after serving a suspension following his red card in the 2-2 draw against Ireland.

Armenia team overview
Armenia’s World Cup 2026 qualifying campaign has been a rollercoaster so far. Ranked 103rd in the FIFA standings, they suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to Portugal in Yerevan in their opening group fixture. However, they bounced back impressively with a shock 2-1 victory over Ireland in Dublin. Armenia currently sit second in Group F, taking advantage of Hungary’s poor start, and are genuinely in contention for a top-two finish.
Their away form, however, remains a concern - the Armenians have won only two of their last ten away matches in all competitions. On the positive side, head coach Yeghishe Melikyan is expected to field a full-strength lineup, with no major injuries or suspensions reported.

Prediction
Based on the pedigree and stature of the Hungarian national team, they head into Saturday’s fixture as clear favourites. However, their performances over the past year have been far from convincing and even embarrassing at times. Marco Rossi’s men have managed just one win in their last eight matches across all competitions - a run that has severely dented both confidence and momentum.
The Hungarians appear to be struggling for self-belief, which could hand Armenia a psychological boost heading into this clash. Even more concerning is Hungary’s defensive record: they have failed to keep a clean sheet in eight consecutive UEFA fixtures over the past year. Given those statistics, a both teams to score outcome (BTTS) appears highly plausible.
Three reasons we expect BTTS
- Hungary have failed to keep a clean sheet in 8 consecutive matches across all competitions.
- Armenia have scored in 4 of their last 5 competitive matches across all competitions.
- Armenia have failed to keep a clean sheet in 33 successive matches across all competitions.
