Honduras return to action in high spirits after picking up four points from their first two fixtures in Group 3 of the CONCACAF World Cup qualification campaign.

Reinaldo Rueda's men picked up a 0:0 draw against Haiti before a 2:0 home success against Nicaragua. 

A solid run of form has seen the visitors win three and lose just one of their last six matches, including a run to the semi-finals of the Gold Cup earlier this year.

Head coach Rueda has a 30-man squad available for Thursday's World Cup qualifier. German-based duo Nayrobi Vargas and Leonardo Posadas are among five uncapped players included in the selection.

Costa Rica make the trip to Honduras unbeaten in their last eight matches after a thrilling 3:3 draw with Haiti last month. Juan Pablo Vargas's stoppage-time goal spared the hosts blushes against their unfancied opponents. 

While unbeaten in regulation play over the past eight games, Costa Rica have been held to draws in each of their last four matches. 

Defensive vulnerabilities have appeared in the visitors displays during that period. Miguel Herrera's side conceded ten goals in their last six games, including three against Haiti and three against Suriname. 

Head coach Herrera has an experienced 28-man squad available this week. UNAM goalkeeper Keylor Navas is expected to make his 122nd international appearance.
