Freiburg's head coach, Julian Schuster, was impressed with his team's performance in the victory over Werder. He said, "Even after the red card, we still had occasional moments on the counterattack. Compliments to the lads for how they defended it, especially with such a long amount of stoppage time."

Freiburg have some problems with missing players, too. Philipp Lienhart, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, and Lukas Kubler are injured and will not travel to Berlin.
