Gijon vs Eibar prediction 16.11.2025 | La Liga 2

Gijon are playing their ninth consecutive season in La Liga 2. Unfortunately, they weren't too close to gaining promotion back to the Spanish top-flight division. Last year, they finished 11th, not even remotely close to the Playoffs. This year, they have had some ups and downs, but are still doing a better job than last season, averaging about 0.3 points per game more. Right now, they are in 9th place with 19 points - just two points away from the Playoffs and four points away from direct promotion and second place. 

After a 2:1 loss against Mirandes, coach Borja Jiménez spoke to the media. He said he takes the blame for the defeat because the team did not look comfortable on the field. "Today, we suffered massively defensively in every line. We were not compact at all. The first and second goals were avoidable," the coach added.

Eibar were relegated from La Liga in the 2019/20 season and looked like a team that could secure promotion, finishing third (twice) and fifth in the following three seasons. However, last season they weren't as good, finishing ninth, and are doing even worse this season. Currently, they are in 13th place with 16 points - just two points away from the danger zone. 

After a 3:2 win over Albacete in the previous game, coach Beñat San Jose spoke to the media. He praised the team for responding and staying calm after conceding a goal in the 1st minute of the game. When asked about their position in the league table, the coach declined to answer, saying they are focusing on one game at a time.
