Getafe actually began the season with a bit of swagger. Three wins from the opening four matches raised eyebrows around Madrid. That pace, though, was always going to be hard to sustain. Reality hit between September and October, a rough five-game winless run featuring three losses and two draws.

Up front, Adrián Liso should lead the line after scoring three league goals so far. Mauro Arambarri, also on three, remains the heartbeat in midfield and the sort of player who can quietly swing a game. On the injury front, Davinchi is out until February with a meniscus problem. Abdel Abqar and Borja Mayoral are also sidelined, which limits Bordalás’ options more than he’d like.

Things are not exactly smooth in San Sebastián either. La Real arrive without a win in their last five matches, losing three and drawing two. Confidence feels fragile, especially away from home.

On the road, Imanol Alguacil’s side have been poor. One win from nine away league games tells the story. Four defeats, four draws, and two matches without scoring at all. That’s not the profile of a team you blindly trust as favourites.

Gonçalo Guedes has chipped in with four goals and should feature up front alongside Mikel Oyarzabal, who remains their most reliable finisher with five.

Yangel Herrera, however, is still missing. The midfielder has been out for 12 games with a calf injury, and this trip comes too soon.
