Georgia team overview
Georgia have never reached the World Cup and have had only one EURO appearance (in 2024). Then, they managed to reach the knockout phase but were unlucky to face Spain then. Still, their progress through the years is evident, especially via the UEFA Nations League, where they moved from League D to B in the last few years. In March 2025, they had to play in the League B relegation playout but easily eliminated Armenia on a 9:1 goal aggregate.
For the upcoming games, coach Willy Sagnol will have most of his stars available - Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Georges Mikautadze. However, on 1st September, Otar Kiteishvili (Sturm Graz) suffered a knee injury and withdrew from the NT, with Sagnol calling Giorgi Kvernadze (Frosinone) as a replacement. Also, Giorgi Chakvetadze (Watford) isn't with the squad due to an injury as well. The 26-year-old has been a crucial part of the NT, and his absence will surely be a factor.

Turkey team overview
Turkey have only secured two appearances in the World Cup thus far. In 1954, they finished the competition in the Group Phase, and in 2002, they shocked the World and secured third place. They also managed to secure the last three EUROs and did well lately in the UEFA Nations League, finally securing the League A last year by beating Hungary in the Playoff/out. They are undoubtedly entering the WC Qualifiers on a positive note, and the bookies see them as the favorite to land in that second place in the Group, behind Spain.
The biggest name not on the squad is probably Enes Unal. The 28-year-old striker is still out with his Achilles tear, which he sustained in January 2025, and will return to the field in about a month or two.

Prediction
Georgia had their ups and downs lately, but most of their good games came against poor teams, which were much weaker than Turkey. In the last eight games, they won three, drew two, and lost three, with their wins coming vs the Faroe Islands and Armenia (twice).
Meanwhile, Turkey won six out of the last nine matches (67%) while beating excellent teams like the USA and Hungary (twice).
Also, in the previous h2h games, Turkey were much more successful, winning four out of six. Considering the trend in the h2h meetings and all the above, we believe Turkey are much closer to winning the upcoming match.
3 Reasons why Turkey should win
- Georgia won only three times in the last eight matches, but against poor teams (Armenia*2 and Faroe Islands)
- Turkey won three out of the last four matches
- Turkey won four out of six h2h games
Main prediction -
to win
