Gent vs Charleroi prediction 03.10.2025 | Jupiler Pro League

Last year, Gent had an absolute disaster at the end of the season, losing 10 of the last 11 and eventually landing last in the Championship Group. A team that competed in the Europe Group (main phase) for the past six years couldn't even reach the Qualifiers. This year, they opened the season poorly, but as the season progresses, they are getting better and are now on a pretty good momentum, winning three out of the last four. Right now, they are in 5th place with 14 points - three away from second place. Maybe the lack of European games will help them focus on the domestic competitions and be much more competitive this year. 

After a 4:2 win over Cercle Brugge KSV in the previous game, coach Ivan Leko spoke to the media. He was happy with the team but admitted the game could have gone either way. The coach was satisfied but had some criticism about defensive instability and the number of shots allowed. 

Charleroi are playing their 14th consecutive season in the Belgian top-flight division. In most of those seasons, they were a mid-table team, which only managed to reach the European Qualifiers three times. Last year was one of those years as they secured the Conference League Qualifiers. Unfortunately, the popular "Zebras" failed to come out of the Qualifiers as Hammarby eliminated them in the second round. This year, Charleroi had mixed results and found themselves again around the middle of the league's table (8th place) with 12 points in nine rounds. 

After a 2:0 loss vs KV Mechelen in the last game, coach Rik De Mil spoke to the media. He said they controlled the possession and started strongly, but failed to create good scoring chances despite having 62% ball possession. The coach also said their goal is to fight for the Playoffs 2 (Conference League Playoffs). De Mil said they chose to rely on young players, which could result in some inconsistency throughout the season.
