Genk vs Lech Poznan prediction 28.08.2025 | Europa League

Genk have grown in the previous few years and now are probably the biggest rival to Club Brugge, arguably the strongest team in the country. Although they expect to fight for the Jupiler Pro League trophy this season, the team from Cegeka Arena didn't start the year well, as they collected only four points in the opening four rounds. Genk postponed the previous league match to prepare better for the second leg against Lech Poznan. 

The upcoming days in Genk could be very busy as it is expected that the forward Tolu Arokodare will leave the team. We will see whether Genk will sign a replacement if the Nigerian leaves. 

Genk have almost a full squad available. They will be without injured Daan Heymans and Hendrik Van Crombrugge on Thursday against Lech Poznan. 

Last season, Lech Poznan won the ninth league title in the Polish national league. They had big expectations from the 2025/26 season, but after losing to Crvena Zvezda in the Champions League qualifications, they are close to being knocked out of the Europa League, too. Luckily, Lech Poznan will, in the case of defeat, continue its European journey in the Conference League. 

Lech Poznan are far from the desired level in the Polish Ekstraklasa, too, as they collected only seven points in the first four league rounds. Lech Poznan are currently on a run of four games without victory in all competitions. Like Genk, Niels Frederiksen's team also decided to postpone the domestic game they had scheduled for the previous weekend. 

Lech are still very active in the current transfer window. It is expected that they will sign one more forward in the upcoming week. According to the reports, Lech Poznan is interested in Taofeek Ismaheel (Gornik Zabrze), Afimico Pululu (Jagiellonia), and Ibrahim Diabate (GAIS). 

Lech Poznan have problems with missing players. They should be without Joel Pereira, Robert Gumny, Radoslaw Murawski, Daniel Hakans, Ali Gholizadeh, and Patrik Walemark on Thursday night in Genk.
