Fortuna Sittard face their first competitive fixture of the season after a mixed bag of pre-season results. Danny Buijs's side won two and lost two of four games played, including a narrow 2:1 reversal against Leverkusen in their final preparation fixture. 

Each of Fortuna's last three games finished with BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored, with 13 goals scored in those three matches.

A lack of consistency in home fixtures proved an issue for Fortuna last season. FCS won eight and lost eight of 17 games played at Fortuna Sittard Stadion.

Head coach Buijs has several new signings available this weekend. Iván Márquez and Marko Kerkez are among eight new faces in contention to make their competitive debuts for the home side.

Go Ahead Eagles make the trip to Sittard after a narrow 2:1 defeat in the final of the Dutch Super Cup against PSV. Despite taking a first-half lead at Phillips Stadion.

Like the home side, Go Ahead picked up some mixed results in their pre-season preparations. The Eagles won three but lost two of seven friendly matches in the past month.

High-scoring outcomes have been frequent, though. Go Ahead Eagles have seen over 2.5 goals in five of their last six matches. Six of their last seven games also finished with both teams on the scoresheet.

Eagles boss Melvin Boel has just one confirmed absentee this weekend. Pim Saathof remains sidelined with a long-term knee issue. 

Finnish international Oliver Antman is no longer available after completing a transfer to Rangers earlier this week.
