A fascinating FIFA Club World Cup semi-final takes place at MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford on Tuesday evening as Chelsea and Fluminense battle it out for a place in next weekend's final.

Two of the strongest performers at the FIFA Club World Cup come together on Wednesday in what should prove a hugely competitive semi-final contest in New Jersey. 

Fluminense secured their place in the semi-finals with a thrilling 2:1 win against Saudi opponents Al Hilal last week. A stunning strike from Martinelli proved the highlight as the Brazilians claimed a huge victory in New Jersey.

An impressive run of form has seen the Tricolor Flu Fluzão remain unbeaten in 11 games played since May, including all five games played at these finals. A strong group phase saw Renato Portaluppi's men secure qualification to the knockout phase with seven points, including a draw against Bundesliga opponents Borussia Dortmund, before a stunning round of sixteen win against Champions League finalists Inter last week. 

With that form in the bank, Fluminense will take plenty of confidence as they take on a Chelsea side that reached the semi-finals with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Palmeiras on Saturday. 

However, the Blues’ earlier group stage defeat to Flamengo serves as a warning that nothing can be taken for granted against Brazilian opposition in New Jersey.

An excellent run of form has seen Chelsea win all but two of 12 games played in the past couple of months. While Maresca's men are justified favourites to qualify on Tuesday, the Tricolor Flu Fluzão have shown so much grit and quality at these finals, and cannot be discounted. Indeed, I fancy the Brazilians to maintain unbeaten momentum and at least avoid defeat over the course of 90 minutes.

A Fluminense win or draw is my best bet, and for those who like a little more value, an outright punt on this tie going to extra-time could also prove profitable.
