Fiorentina’s season has not followed the script. After finishing sixth last year, you would expect some kind of push forward. Instead, the Violets are stuck looking down the table.

That said, recent league form has been quietly encouraging. Paolo Vanoli’s side are unbeaten in their last four, including a draw against Inter and a 4-1 win over Cremonese. Those are not trivial results.

Still, the midweek 3-0 loss in Europe might linger a bit. You can imagine it affecting confidence, even slightly. At home, though, things look steadier.

The Violets are unbeaten in seven of their last eight at Artemio Franchi, which should matter here. Albert Guðmundsson is suspended, which is a blow going forward. Lamptey, Solomon, Fortini and Parisi are also out, so depth is not exactly ideal right now.

Lazio’s campaign feels underwhelming, if we are being honest. Ninth place, just 11 wins from 31 games, that is not where the Eagles expected to be. However, recent form tells a slightly different story.

Maurizio Sarri’s side are unbeaten in five matches, winning three and keeping two clean sheets. That suggests some level of control returning.

Away form, though, is still a concern. Just one win in their last six on the road is not particularly reassuring. It leaves a bit of doubt about how they will approach this.

Gustav Isaksen, with four goals and one assist, should start alongside Pedro, who still brings experience in tight games. Injuries are piling up, however. Gigot, Rovella, Provedel, Zaccagni and Gila are all unavailable, which does limit options more than Sarri would like.
