FC Porto, a 30-time Portuguese champion, had an underwhelming season by their standards, finishing the season trophyless. This season, the popular Dragons are doing a much better job across the competitions. They are at the top of Liga Portugal with an incredible 49 points in 17 rounds and have easily reached the Europa League 1/8 Finals. Their only poor performance this season was in the League Cup, losing to Guimaraes in the quarter-finals. However, the popular Dragons are playing great football and are looking better and better as the season progresses. 

After a 1:0 win over Santa Clara in the previous game, coach Francesco Farioli spoke to the media. He said they played well, structured, and dealt with a tough pitch and a good opponent. The coach also emphasized they have to keep working and improving and not get complacent. 

Benfica, a 38-time Portuguese winner, also finished its last season without a single trophy. This season, the popular Eagles haven't been at the top of their game, and their best remaining chance of silverware clearly lies in the Taça de Portugal. The Eagles have already been eliminated from the Champions League and League Cup and are ten points away from the first-placed FC Porto in Liga Portugal. To be fair, they aren't playing too badly, but have constantly struggled to beat good teams. 

After a 3:1 loss against Braga in the League Cup, coach José Mourinho spoke to the media. He was extremely unhappy with the team's performance, calling it awful and inexplicable. The famous coach also criticized the lack of communication and reaction from his players. "It wasn't Braga that won — it was us who lost," the coach added.
